My husband and I are about to join our daughter Katie in Paris. How wonderful does that sound? Wonderful, exciting, springtime in Paris; I can't believe it's about to happen! Thirty . . . more

Here's what I wrote under the Gather response form to the announcement about new Gather Guides:
As a reader and writer, I like to look at all sides of an issue. I can see the pros and cons of having guides rotate or change from time to time. I think it is a credit to the current guides that people are so attached to them. It is testimony to the superb job they've done. I'll miss so many of those who will be leaving. That part is very hard. Agreed.
But let me add a contrasting opinion as well. All guides have their favorite subject matter, writing styles that appeal to them, etc. I think the current guides have tried to balance the writing of favorite and longtime Gather people as well as highlight some promising new voices.
By bringing in more guides, maybe even more readers and writers will be showcased. Just a thought.
I'm glad there is an open dialogue about this. I do believe Gather listens to what writers and readers put in the comments section. Some of you will call me naive for being so trusting but there it is.

Merry Christmas! I want to go to Italy too. I really wanted to go there for the last winter Olympics, but was unable to go. It was great on TV though. Beautiful!
I hope God will bless you with the opportunity to make the trip. Be sure to take lots of pics for us.
